February Winter CSA

First seeds of 2025 are planted!

No way you say. It is solidly winter right now: freezing, cold, sunny, rainy, snowy, windy. You know, doing the Central Oregon winter thing. But it’s true, at the very end of January we started seeding for 2025. Thousands and thousands of seeds are beginning their journey towards your CSA share!

4 flats of green onions, 6 flats of Rainbow Lacinato kale, 4 flats of mixed Asian greens, and 3 flats of lettuce heads all seeded and, weather and temperature dependent, coming to size for the April and/or May winter CSAs.

14 flats of peas were soaked and seeded and will be one of the glorious options early on in the Summer CSA.

And, most impressively, 45,000 onion, shallot, and leeks, 36 flats, are just beginning their lives with an end destination of next Winter’s CSA.

It is so hard to believe that right now we are already growing for next year (yay onions and garlic that we planted in October!).

We hope you enjoy this month’s CSA share! Don’t forget those onions started their lives this time last year and are still so, so good. I mean, what is cooking without an onion!
