Hi Full Diet fam!

I feel like I haven’t seen all of you in so long! I miss you! Thank you to Mel and Melody for going above and beyond these past couple of weekends so I could get some much-needed rest and play! We have some big things happening in the store right now, so I wanted to check in with all of you.

Winter is setting in. Although we still have some lovely days that are bringing us an amazing variety in the store (Mixed greens, green onions, lettuce), we are definitely still in winter storage vegetable season. Celeriac, carrots, beets, cabbage, and more. So I wanted to touch base in the veggie department.

  • Parsnips, red radishes, and daikon radishes are on their way out. If they are your favorites, it’s time to grab some extra to keep at home. This is the last of the season. We will no longer have them in January.
  • We are transitioning to our new potato varieties. We are still working through the russets first because those don’t store as long. But we now have Dakota dawns and huckleberry golds (my favorite). Huckleberries are only available for our FD members because there are so few of them, yay!
  • Mel and Melody set up an amazing winter squash-identifying system in the store! Please ask any of us the best way to prepare these. We will also have a taste test set up this weekend!
  • We will have parsley and cilantro again this week! If you’re like me and don’t know what to do with parsley, I added a great recipe below.
  • We have onions and garlic out. Shallots will be out later in the season because they are our long-storage alliums!
  • Fruit is coming! Mel is heading up to Hood River to receive our apples and pears.
  • Finally! A couple of months ago, we recorded how many jars you returned. I have collected the data, and we will pull a family name next weekend. The winner gets a gift card to the store. Thank you for always bringing back your milk jars.
  • If you would like to have your own meat sheet to keep at home, let me know! I would be happy to print one out for you!

Holiday hour update: We are closed Christmas weekend! Which means we will be doing a double pick up the weekend before (12/19 and 12/20)! However, this time you will be taking double milk for your double pick up! I have attached some wonderful milk preservation recipes so you can process that extra milk at home. It’s super easy to make yogurt or ice cream that will stay for longer than your milk will.
