That completes our email farmer features!
I really appreciated hearing from all of the farmers. Their feelings about this place, these people, and this food was profound, thoughtful, intelligent, and inspiring. I’m sure you enjoyed reading their entries too!
I would be lying if I said I didn’t miss writing emails. I love the opportunity to check in with you all, talk about whats happening on the farm and share some things I’ve been thinking about.
So here we are, at what feels like the end of the season. With apprentices heading back to their other lives, events winding down, and siberian kale going in the ground it really feels like summer is coming to a close. But despite the change in season the work has yet to slow down. I know you’re feeling it at pick up, the abundance of sweet peppers, the variety! Walking out into the field and garden these days doesn’t scream fall! Things here are actually very much still screaming summer.
But the cool mornings and the equinox are a reminder of whats to come. The slower season, shorter days, cooler weather, hardier veggies. So while we’re still here, in the last push of summer lets take a moment to appreciate it! The next time you’re eating a tomato, savor it. The next time you’re slipping on the flip flops, or feel the warm sun on your skin, or sit outside at a restaurant, just take a moment! Things seem to be moving so fast these days, it feels like we all need a reminder to be here.
