“Here is your annual reminder that the Gregorian calendar was invented by a man, and life doesn’t rebirth with January. January is not a beginning. It is winter’s menstrual phase – dark, quiet and still. Nature is regenerating. The north is sleeping. Seeds are underground. Sap is low. Animals rest or gestate. Nothing is “new” yet. The Earth’s real new year has always been spring – when light returns, soil warms, and life actually emerges. It was once common to celebrate renewal at the equinox, when balance is restored, fertility awakens, and creation begins. Winter is for reflection, restoration, composting old stories, tending the inner fire, dreaming what will grow, and feeding our roots. If January feels heavy, slow or resistant – nothing is wrong with you. You’re listening to the earth. Honor winter. Rest without guilt.”

Rainshadow is hiring for the 2026 season!

We’re already getting excited for the 2026 farming season! We’ve got a handful of roles opening up, farm crew, event staff, farmers’ market help, and more. If you’re curious about working with us, take a look at the opportunities linked below. And if someone in your world would be a great fit, feel free to send them our way.

JOIN OUR MARKET TEAM!

We’re looking for a couple folks to work the farmer’s market.  We are at the Bend Farmer Market and Northwest Crossings Saturday Market from May to October.  The commitment is Wednesdays and Saturdays from about 9am to 3pm.

Need to love people and vegetables and be able to run the Square POS.
Pays $100 plus lots of veggies.

JOIN OUR PRESERVATION TEAM!

We crank through a ton of preservation throughout the year.  We would love a master food preserver to join us periodically throughout the year when the veg is in abundance.  Summer cucumbers, peppers, basil, tomatoes and tomatillos.  Winter beets and carrots.

Summer CSA Shares are also available

We’ve been crop planning and sorting seeds like crazy this month.  So excited for the coming season.  Now is the time to grab your CSA membership and let us know you’d like us to count you in on the crop plan.

We’ve got more pick-up options than ever this year:

  • Bend Farmer Market and the Farm Store as usual
  • PLUS:
    • Northwest Crossings Saturday Market
    • Locavore Market on Wednesday/Thursday with a pre-boxed option
    • Home Delivery with a pre-boxed option (We also have funding to offer free home delivery for folks on SNAP)

Winter CSA Shares still available

Our Winter CSA is the perfect way to continue nourishing yourself with nutrient dense and locally grown produce and meats all winter long. We firmly believe in the power of local food year round and we cannot wait to continue feeding you and yours!

Full Diet CSA: Rewarding and Intentional

The Full Diet CSA is a year round, hyper local, community driven CSA, operating completely out of our Farm Store! As a Full Diet member you are the core of the farm family, getting first access to crops and meat cuts, special on farm events, like U-Pick strawberries and flowers, and specialized educational materials and recipes. The Full Diet CSA is a weekly pick up of veggies, eggs, raw-milk, grains, beans, our regenerative beef, organically raised chicken, and pork! The Full Diet program puts the “community” in Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).
