All the kids might be headed back to school, but the CSA has 6 more weeks!!!  September is our favorite time of year on the farm.  Tons of abundance and clear air.  Yeeehaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PSA: No eggs for the public at the markets, but CSA members can grab a dozen through the Add-ons page and we’ll bring them just for you.

Daikon!

This time of year we have some big hauls of storage crops that we will eat all winter long through the Winter CSA and the Full Diet program. This week was Daikon time!  What. A. Crop.  You’ll see the little guys this week since they don’t store as well.  These are big Japanese variety radishes.  They are fairly mild and can be sliced up in a salad, crudité, or tossed in a stir fry.  They love to be paired with a slab of butter and some real nice salt.  They also pickle well.

Onions and Shallots!

The other big haul of the week was the allium block.  We have a huge stack of these guys curing.  We will process them in October, but they need a good month to set their skins.  We will eat these lovelies all winter long.
If you want to keep eating from the farm, now is the time to snag your spot!  HERE is the link to the Winter CSA.

Winter Squash!

This is the best looking patch we’ve ever had.  What a win.  Can’t hardly tell whats in there unless you army crawl in, but there are over 20 varieties of winter squash and you’ll start to see the first ones at market soon.

Cucumbers!

Cucumbers are coming to an end.  Boy they produce some serious tonnage.  If you haven’t taken home an Armenian yet, you really must (the giant light colored ones).  The lemon cucs are finally happening and are a really fun little treat.  Be brave, slice them all up into a straight cucumber salad.  I just dress with some balsamic and olive oil myself.  My favorite summer salad.
