Veggie IDs: Lovage
What is Lovage? Our winter CSA members learned all about lovage in early May with their May CSA, but for those of you who didn’t, what is lovage? This herb tastes a bit like celery with hints of parsley and anise. It is an interesting one. Don’t be afraid! You can use it as a pesto base, add it to vinaigrette, replace celery with it, chop it up and add it to salads. My favorite idea (if only I liked tomatoes), is to use the stem as a straw in a Bloody Mary. HERE is a great recipe for lovage pesto. Use it as a sandwich spread, on top of chicken, tossed with pasta or potatoes.
