We are Gratefully Eating!

Aaah, The 2025 Marathon has been completed.
We’re stretching and walking it off.
Nourishing ourselves heartily.
Dreaming of next season.

We hope this farm note finds you well.  I like to imagine my community gathered up with family, both born to and chosen.  I hope you are finding good ingredients to play with in the kitchen, taking all the time in the world to explore new recipes and prepare the classics. I hope you lounge hard for deep rest.  I hope you get some brisk air in you, outside doing something fun or just checking in with the wilds.  Try to be aware of even the tiniest critters as they hunker down for winter. Most importantly, good golly, put the phone down and be with your people.

Rae has prepared so many of our garden beds for next season.  That means they have all their compost and calcium.  They have been broad forked and shaped then seeded with Austrian winter peas.  All the nutrients will settle in and be maximumly bioavailable in the spring WITH a gorgeous mass of peas that we can eat as tender shoots and will be fixing nitrogen at the same time.  Then we will melt this “green manure crop” into the ground with a silage tarp and it will add so much organic matter to our soil.

Rainshadow is hiring for the 2026 season!

We’re already getting excited for the 2026 farming season! We’ve got a handful of roles opening up, farm crew, event staff, farmers’ market help, and more. If you’re curious about working with us, take a look at the opportunities linked below. And if someone in your world would be a great fit, feel free to send them our way.

Reminder: our farm store is closed Friday, 11/21 and Saturday, 11/22

For our Full Diet members, Winter CSA pick-ups, and shoppers, our store will be closed the weekend after Thanksgiving! This is to give our team time to rest, eat, and be together. We will resume normal winter hours starting in December. We can’t wait to see you then!

Are you interested in our Full Diet CSA? It is the best way to get more of the farm in your diet, and spend more time with the people and place that grow your food. We have room in our Full Diet CSA and would love to have you out for a trial week!

Send our Markets Manager, Isabel, an email at the link below. She can get you started!
