Happy Earth Day!!  Did you know that Earth Day is considered the largest secular holiday in the world?  Golly, folks celebrating our planet gives me so much hope.  It sure is an honor to steward a little piece of it, coaxing out abundance to share with you.

This spring has been a real doozy.  Sitting here at midnight, scratching out my computer tasks says a lot about how full the days are.  The biggest thing I’m dealing with is the most sever drought in recorded history on top of all the other madness in the world.  I’ve been scrutinizing every crop, its timing and water consumption.  We installed a weather station with moisture probes that will help us get to the absolute minimum water consumption on the farm.

I am grateful that we have built so much organic matter in our soils, that we typically only use about 30% of the water allotted to our property.  This is because organic matter has a tremendous water holding capacity.  However this year we are looking at a 10% water delivery, if we don’t get shut off altogether. We’ve been building our resiliency, and it will be put to the test this year.

Sign up for your Summer CSA

Well, I certainly haven’t overdone the marketing on this one.  This is your one and only reminder to sign up for your summer membership with Rainshadow.  We’ve been rolling out the crop plan and the farm is buzzing with potential. CSA starts the first week of June and runs for 20 weeks.

NEW! WE WILL BE AT THE NWX SATURDAY MARKET! You can choose to pick up your CSA on Saturdays in Northwest Crossings.  It will also be an opportunity to grab your share if you missed your other pick up.

WE ARE OFFERING HOME DELIVERY!!!  Thats right, all y’all that hate the parking at the market or don’t like the confines of commitment, but really care about the ingredients you cook with…. we’ll get your food to your door. We are doing home delivery in Bend and Redmond (In city limits… but you could also get food delivered to your workplace).  Its a one-time fee of $300 for the season and works with any share, with or without meat.

Its beans. Its herbs. Its abundance for preservation. Its recipes. Its cookies and farm walks.
