Rae and Sunshine hang out a little bit every day

In between the day’s punctuation of animal snuggles, our little farm team is rolling out the bulk of our 2025 crops!  We finesse around the weather and the biodynamic calendar to get so many seeds and plants in the ground.  Each day is different.  One day we’re walking miles, plopping potatoes in furrows.  The next we’re in the squat position planting 24,000 tiny onions that were started in January and now are just barely blades of grass. And the next we’re chugging along on the transplanter tucking in broccoli, cauliflower, kale, chard, celeriac, lettuce, kohlrabi, cabbage, bok choi and more.  Then pray for a cloud so we can spend hours in the greenhouses trellising and training cucumbers, tomatillos, tomatoes and peppers.

I do think I should be more honest with myself about how bananas May is at the farm.  To nail the timing on everything just takes a 7-day week approach with early mornings and late evenings.  Coming out of the glorious slowness of winter, the farm feels both rude and invigorating.  As a farmer you really can’t stuff your farm into any boundaries.  It’s Pandora’s box WIDE ASS OPEN.  Gotta let go and be swept away in the beauty and the chaos.  Def not try to be anywhere or do anything else….
