| Do I have any introverts out there?
As a gal who really recharges on her own, I am so glad to say that I spent my weekend alone. Wow. That was refreshing.
My husband was away on a work trip, and I took full advantage of my empty home. I met up with a friend to play cribbage and sip some chai, packed for my trip to New Orleans, did some food preservation projects, read my book, and cleaned my house.
It’s amazing what a little time alone can bring me. It helped that the weather was moody this weekend, too. We are really feeling the transition of seasons out here.
I see the transition in my home life with earlier dinners, candlelight, cozy sweaters, and tea in the evenings; and I see the transition beginning on the farm with the dwindling of crops like cucumbers, green beans and eggplants. The height of summer has come and gone, and now we’re gearing up for the big fall harvest and flip.
This is a big hustle for the farm team: grabbing all the goods we’ve raised all year, flipping beds, getting winter crops planted, and putting in the cover crop of peas in the two-acre that we’ll all be enjoying as shoots come April and May.
There’s something about this particular transition that always feels a little wild to me. Summer can simultaneously feel like the longest and shortest season of them all. Looking back on this summer season, I hope you ate your hearts out. |
