Fire Season…..
The farm is back in the evac zone for the third year in a row.  We stay with the farm and animals and keep our farm stand open.  If you are coming from Sisters, you can drive around and take Buckhorn to Lower Bridge.

What in the heck does farming in this weather look like?

Well… it looks smoky.

Our views of the Sisters and Smith Rock come and go throughout the day. The crew has been sipping on a tea made with mullein, elecampane, tulsi, marshmallow root, chamomile, elderberry, and mint. They’re drinking more water than they think they need, ducking inside for a few minutes when they can, and then heading back out to cultivate, harvest, weed, wash, and pack.

The vegetables don’t stop growing just because fire season has arrived (although they do notably drop in production because really nothing thrives in the smoke). The animals still need tending. So our team keeps going.

If you’ve ever wondered how to support your farmers this time of year, the answer is wonderfully simple: keep eating. And while you’re picking up your weekly share, bring a friend who’s been meaning to check the farm out.

Every carrot, tomato, bag of arugula, pork chop, and jar of milk represents hours of work from a crew that’s showing up day after day, smoky skies and all.

Friendly reminder that its a meat week!

All you meat members, how is it going?  Are you thawing and cooking your meat?  Have any questions?  I’m here to help you out, so don’t hesitate to ask.

Remind is working!

Finally, our text reminder app “Remind” is working. The invitation texts have been going through correctly and I hope you all find the reminder to be a help.

Beans are ON!  They are very happy and we’ve been picking like crazy, three times a week. We also planted three successions so we hope to have productive beans all the way through September.
Peas are over for the season.  They hate the heat.  No worries though, everything has its time to shine.
