Farewell Winter!
It’s been real.
I know we’ve been talking about Spring the last couple months, but now the veg is coming to fruition to prove it. Radishes and salad turnips! Pea shoots! Herbs! Bok Choi! To name a few… There will NOT be Siberian Kale this time. I imagine some of you will be very excited about this. I personally am going to miss it until next winter. I do believe it is my very favorite veg. The last couple greenhouse beds of the kale got cleared to the pigs today. RIP. But, they got flipped into sweet peppers, hot peppers, eggplants, and basil. So, come on Summer. I see you.
Rainshadow is such a crazy farm, growing and delivering food year round. This time of year is a little awkward talking about summer and hoping y’all stick with us for the next five months AND look ahead to winter. What can I say, that’s just how it is here. It’s the way we think, eat, crop plan, and roll it all out.
We haven’t done discounts in a few years, so I thought I’d give it a whirl. Prices are staying the same next year, so that’s cool. The 25/26 Winter CSA is live on the website and you can use a coupon code for a 20% discount if you sign up before June 1st.

We’re keeping it warm over here and feeling great about our germination on carrots, beets, turnips, radish, and cilantro. And Momo’s tulips are festival status
Pick Up Reminder
Don’t forget that we do the Central Oregon triangle on the first Thursday of the month and timing is everything.
We will be:
- In Sisters near the Fir Street Park: 3-3:15 pm
- In Bend at the Deschutes County Main Services building parking lot (1300 NW Wall St): 4:30-5:30 pm. Look for the black truck and trailer in the Northeast corner.
- If you signed up for a Farm Store pick up, we will see you Friday (11-5) or Saturday (9-3) at the Farm Store, 71290 Holmes Rd.
If you can’t make your Thursday Sisters or Bend pick up you are always welcome to come pick up on Friday or Saturday following the first Thursday of the month at the Farm Store. If that doesn’t work, please reach out and we can work towards finding an alternative day at the Farm Store!
A bit of inspiration
Spring radishes and turnips have the tastiest tops! Use those tender roots, but be sure to braise the tops or toss them in a salad. It’s time to let go of the hearty winter meals and get light and fresh. The CSA this month definitely invites you to do so.
