Fond Farewell to the Season

All around me I keep hearing, “I bet you’re so glad the season’s over!” And sure — when the time comes, I will be. But not just yet. Check back in mid-November. Until then, we’re still moving fast — gathering chickens, cabbages, and carrots, tucking the season’s work into storage, and soaking up these last golden weeks of hustle and harvest. I mean, have you seen the forecast for this week? Lookin’ good, hun. In the next two weeks, we’ll wrap up our final round of in-season events: a community dinner tonight, a brunch to celebrate the Deschutes Land Trust’s 30th anniversary, and a private dinner celebration right after that. |

Then it’s Customer Appreciation Day — your chance to glean the fields while our kitchen turns out plate after plate of delicious food. One week later comes our first Winter CSA drop, and then it’s off to Fill Your Pantry (details below). That’s the lineup — our home stretch. And somewhere beyond it, winter waits for us, ready with her slower pace and softer light. Then the rhythm shifts. Brunches (tickets below!) return, and we’ll begin dreaming up my favorite event of the year: our Winter Solstice Dinner. Until then, we’ll keep savoring what’s left of this bright, abundant season — the daylight, the full tables, and the deep gratitude that lingers as the farm exhales. |
