Abundant August Arrives

Wow. What a season it has been.

Winter barely showed up this year. Instead of a long, snowy recharge, Rainshadow had to hustle to drill a new agricultural well with the prospect of our irrigation water dwindling without the usual snowmelt. Farming has a funny way of asking you to solve one problem while celebrating another.

The silver lining? Its not so cold, so the food is growing…

One of my favorite things to hear this April, May and June was, “Wow, you have all of this already?” Those of you who eat with the seasons know exactly why that made us smile. Every early pea, broccoli head, cucumber, and bunch of basil felt like a little gift.

Of course, the weather hasn’t stopped keeping us on our toes. Just last week, Sarahlee was out before sunrise protecting crops from frost. A few days later, our harvest crew was working through temperatures in the upper 90s to bring in this week’s bounty.

And all of it points to what’s coming next: August Abundance.

The variety is here. The wave is building. In just a few short weeks, the fields will be overflowing. It’s one of the most exciting times of the year—a season that reminds us why we do this work.

So consider this your invitation to help us eat our way through the fields.

things we’re loving 💕

We want you to be inspired and to live in health & gratitude. Here’s what’s feeding my stoke this month:

✨ I am loving Substack, currently reading Don’t Skip The Dip every week. High quality recipes delivered straight to my inbox, thank you very much.

✨ Lymphatic Flows to start my morning. These help me to begin my day with intention and to get energy flowing through my body.

✨ My husband and I wrote out affirmations and say them each morning to each other. An incredible way to start the day.

✨ My books for this month: the current dualogy known as the King Killer Chronicles and diving back into the Stormlight Archives.
