Boy oh boy, I hope everyone is enjoying each breath of this fresh air. Albeit hot, I am grateful for clear air every day that we have it. I really hope it holds for a few more days so you can see the farm in all its glory on a warm July evening.
This is my favorite event of the year. Touring the farm with the very best of Central Oregon, you people that walk the walk, is so gratifying.
I started this farm on the old idea of Community Supported Agriculture. Folks that pay in full at the beginning of the season when the farmer needs the cash. Folks that come and help on the farm. As we’ve established over the last 17 years, I am very happy to employ an incredible team of farmers (though we still take volunteers because we believe in allowing people to connect with land, food, and community). And we are able to offer payment plans and subsidies for families faced with food insecurity.
I am glad the CSA is more convenient and flexible now, but miss the level of connection that members used to have with the farm. Thats why this time together is so important. The team and I get to know you at pick up, but I want you to know each other and to meet all the farmers. Everything is so vibrant in July. Its the perfect time to show off all your food.
