Recipe Modifications are Key!
This is the time of year where I start to really modify recipes. I look for a recipe that strikes my fancy and then make sure it has a reasonably seasonally available foundation. And then I take a look at all the other ingredients and the steps to cooking and, just like a really great school paper, I strike things out, substitute different items, and sometimes change the cooking style entirely.
What’s the point of starting with the recipe, you ask? Simple, a girl needs some inspiration from somewhere! The recipe provides the foundation. The CSA provides the finished product.
Below is a modification guide for you. Changing a recipe isn’t too hard, it just takes a bit of courage. The longer you are on our Full Diet and the more you cook, the braver you will become as you gain familiarity with what you enjoy eating, how you enjoy cooking, and what we have in season when!
Life is a journey and eating shouldn’t be any different. Enjoy these next few months of leaning into substitutions and fueling yourself with nourishment and delicious food.
This week we are continuing to give our Siberian Kale a rest. We will be leaning into Chard! Check out some great Chard recipe suggestions below. I’ve also included a cabbage salad recipe so it isn’t “just another slaw” 🙂
See you tomorrow and Saturday!
